Florida men sentenced for armed robbery of USPS workers

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two Miramar men were sentenced to serve federal prison time for committing armed robbery of two postal carriers in 2023, U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday announced.

On Sept. 21, 2023, Christopher Raymond and Andre Hylton, both 20, traveled to Tampa in a rental car and stolen USPS serialized keys from two different mail carriers, one at gunpoint. They were arrested the following day.

Raymond was sentenced to nine years in federal prison, while Hylton was sentenced to eight years.

“The sentencing of these two individuals demonstrates the commitment of the United States Postal Inspection Service to the safety of Postal Service employees and customers,” said Miami Division Inspector in Charge Juan A. Vargas. “However, our work is not done, we will continue to collaborate with our law enforcement partners to make our communities safer by continuing to arrest those accountable for these crimes.”
