HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – “Normally I don’t make bad decisions. This was a bad decision to stay,” Willie Robinson said.

Robinson said he and his wife watched in panic as the water kept rising in his Town ‘n’ Country home Thursday night.

“In the house, we saw the water coming through the wall. I’m still trying to figure that one out,” he said.

Robinson lives in Spinnaker Cove, which is surrounded by canals connected to Tampa Bay.

Like so many of his neighbors, he is putting many of his belongings on the curb to dry out or throw out.

On Monday, trucks were towing flood-damaged cars.

Aerial video shared by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office right after the storm showed homes, cars, and even a golf course surrounded by water.

The sheriff’s office called Town ‘n’ Country one of the hardest-hit areas in Hillsborough County.

“I’m ready to move,” said Robinson.

The never-before-seen storm surge and damage also has Susan Green rethinking where she lives.
