TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tropical Storm Sara continues to move westward along the north coast of Honduras, the National Hurricane Center said.
Tropical Storm Sara is expected to move over Honduras and dissipate over the Yucatan Peninsula.
According to the NHC, life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides will continue in Honduras through the weekend.
Sara is moving toward the west at 9 mph and will continue moving westward over the next few days.
Located 40 miles southeast of Isla Guanaja, Honduras, Sara is expected to move on the northern coast of Honduras through early Saturday and approach the coast of Belize on Sunday.
Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:
- The entire northern coast of Honduras
- The Bay Islands of Honduras
- The northern coast of Guatemala from the Honduras/Guatemala border westward to Puerto Barrios
