TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Police Department is planning to have enhanced patrols for this upcoming New Year’s Eve.
According to the department, TPD officers working under “Operation Safe Resolution” will put more patrol cars on the road to keep drunk drivers and other people with reckless habits in check.
“The basic laws of gravity and the consequences of driving under the influence don’t just disappear after midnight,” Chief Lee Bercaw said. ” Through Operation Safe Resolution, we aim to create a safe and joyful environment where we can welcome the New Year with excitement for the possibilities 2025 holds. Our goal is to prevent tragedies caused by reckless and irresponsible actions of those who couldn’t find a safe resolution, rather than grieve the loss of a loved one.”
In addition to safe driving, the Tampa Police Department urged civilians to refrain from celebratory gunfire, as it could cause serious injury or death to bystanders.
