Man fatally shot outside Tampa bar on New Year’s Day: deputies

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man has died after being shot outside of a Tampa bar in the early hours of New Year’s Day, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

At 1:43 a.m., deputies responded to the Tally Ho Bar Lounge & Grill, located at 7402 North 56th Street in Tampa. Officials said the shooting took place in the parking lot behind the bar.

A man was found with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Hillsborough deputies are actively investigating and do not have a suspect in custody. It is believed the shooting was an isolated incident.

“What should have been a night of celebration to welcome the new year has been overshadowed by this tragic incident,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Our detectives are working diligently to find answers and determine the events that led to this fatal shooting.
