TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Close to a third of all flights coming into and out of Tampa International Airport on Saturday were delayed as a round of winter weather affected several regions of the U.S.
On Saturday afternoon, TPA reported that 191 of the 587 flights scheduled were delayed — amounting to over 32% of flights running behind. There were also three cancellations reported.

While most Floridians will not be experiencing anything beyond frigid temperatures, other parts of the country began seeing the effects of a major winter storm over the weekend.
Around 60 million people were under winter weather alerts Saturday as the storm began moving across the Plains, bringing heavy snow and ice to cities like Omaha, Nebraska and Kansas City, Missouri, NBC reported.
The Kansas City Chief’s team was left stranded on the runway Saturday after Kansas City International Airport had to shut down the airfield due to the winter weather.
