FBI: New Orleans attacker visited Tampa for 48 hours in October

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A new video from the FBI shows how investigators believe the suspect in the deadly New Orleans attack prepared.

President Joe Biden and the First Lady were in New Orleans Monday night to honor the 14 killed and dozens injured. They attended a prayer service at the city’s famed St. Louis cathedral.

The FBI said its working to fill in some of the gaps that went into the planning of this horrible attack. News Channel 8 has learned the suspect made a stop in Tampa in late October for 48 hours.

Investigative Reporter Brittany Muller spoke with a retired FBI agent who said the FBI is now doing a deep dive to rule out or identify a common denominator, association, and location to see if others were radicalized or sympathized.

New video released by the FBI shows what they said is Shamshud Din Jabbar, 42, riding on a bike through the French Quarter recording himself on smart glasses on one of at least two trips to New Orleans in the months before the deadly rampage on New Year’s Day.
