ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (WFLA) — A Zephyrhills man could face a minimum of 29 years in federal prison after he was indicted for a string of armed robberies throughout Tampa Bay, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.
Peter Latimore Jr., 43, committed the armed robberies between Oct. 2 and Nov. 22 at businesses including three supermarkets located in Tampa, Brandon, and Zephyrhills, along with a Plant City beauty supply shop.
Officials said each time Latimore would enter the business, he would go to the customer service desk and lift his shift to display a firearm to the employees. In one case, the suspect reportedly told a clerk to “hurry up or he would shoot her.”
Latimore was arrested on Dec. 3. A search warrant at his Zephyrhills home yielded a pistol he allegedly used during the robberies.
According to the DOJ, Latimore was charged with interference of commerce by robbery, attempted robbery, use of a firearm during and in the commission of a felony offense, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
