TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — A recently filed bill in the Florida House may change the way residents tip, and how restaurants and establishments charge for services.
According to the revised version of House Bill 535 initially filed on Feb. 11, public food service establishments are prohibited from including automatic gratuity charges on parties of less than six guests but may include them on parties of six or more.

If restaurants choose to add the automatic service charges, it must be visible on the menu and every guest’s receipt that requires a signature. The establishment must list who is receiving the gratuity or service charges, along with the percentage they’re receiving.
