Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Marine Section Heroically Rescues Five from Sinking Boat near Tampa Bay

Quick action by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Marine Section and a 911 dispatcher led to the rescue of five people from a sinking boat near Tampa Bay’s Spoil Island earlier this month. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call about the overturned vessel, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, a deputy found the boat and used a throw rope to rescue one man still clinging to the vessel, while the other four passengers were helped by nearby civilian boats. All five individuals were safely brought to the Williams Park boat ramp, where they were checked and confirmed to be in good health…
