An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate at Falkenburg Road Jail, as confirmed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Matthew Garon, 45, was found unresponsive in his cell last Sunday, in what appeared to be a case of self-inflicted harm.
Despite immediate first-aid efforts by deputies and subsequent transportation to a local hospital, Garon’s condition worsened and, he was pronounced dead on the morning of Saturday. The Sheriff’s Office, in a statement obtained by SFist, said that the cause of death is yet to be confirmed by the Medical Examiner’s Office. They also indicated that Garon’s family has been notified following this tragic incident.
