TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Three men were detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) after officials said they unlawfully caught more than a dozen fish near Cypress Creek.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said one of its officers spotted the men using a cast net to catch snook — a method that is prohibited in Florida.

According to authorities, the men had caught 17 snook, and all of the fish were undersized.
Investigators contacted CBP after they were unable to positively identify the three individuals. Officials said the three men then admitted to entering the country illegally and were taken into custody.
