In a coordinated effort that spanned jurisdictions, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) successfully apprehended a 60-year-old murder suspect, Juan Antonio Vera, on behalf of the Miami Police Department. According to a social media post from HCSO, the police were tipped off to the suspect’s location in Hillsborough County on Thursday. Surveillance tactics, including the use of a drone, led to Vera’s arrest shortly after Miami authorities issued a warrant.
Found backed into a Nicklaus Circle driveway in Tampa, the law enforcement team waited for the official paperwork to be in order before making their move, and as Vera stepped toward the vehicle, the deputies arrested him, with the entire process carrying out without incident, and in Sheriff Chad Chronister’s words, “This arrest is a testament to the seamless collaboration between agencies.” “When someone is wanted for a violent crime, it becomes a priority for all of us regardless of jurisdiction.
