TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Humane Society of Tampa Bay announced Tuesday that it is halting kitten adoptions due to a highly contagious disease outbreak.
The animal shelter said it will stop all adoptions and intakes of kittens under the age of four months due to “a highly contagious and deadly strain of Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper) that is affecting the greater Tampa Bay area.”

The quarantine will be in effect from Wednesday, June 18 to Wednesday, July 2.
