New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell in Tampa for U.S. Conference of Mayors

TAMPA, Fla. (WGNO) — New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is in Tampa, Florida, for the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

According to officials with the City of New Orleans, Cantrell will be serving as a lead speaker on multiple panels while at the conference. Additionally, she is expected to call on other mayors in the effort to push back against violence and aggression toward political leaders on the national, state and city levels.

City officials say that, more broadly, the purpose of the conference is to “promote the development of effective national urban policy, strengthen federal relationships and advocate for policies that meet the needs of American cities.”

Cantrell will also reportedly be inviting other mayors to New Orleans’ 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, held in August. She is planned to return to the city at the end of the conference…
