Suspected beach blanket thief arrested at Clearwater Beach

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — An alleged beach blanket thief was arrested Thursday after police say he returned to Clearwater Beach to commit some more thievery.

According to the Clearwater Police Department, they started receiving multiple calls around 4:45 p.m. from individuals stating that their beach bags, containing cash, car keys, wallets, credit cards, phones and other valuables, had been stolen.

CPD said officers arrived at the scene and were able to locate the suspect, who they identified as Damien Klaben, 44, near Pier 60.

CPD said Klaben was also a suspect in a theft case that occurred on Wednesday, where three unattended bags near Tower 2 went missing around 3 p.m. Police say the bags were taken to a nearby location, and a total of $1,350 in cash combined was removed from them…
