Highland City Incident Unravels into Career Criminal’s Latest Arrest

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – What began as a welfare check for an unconscious man in a Highland City yard on Monday evening quickly escalated into an arrest for a repeat offender facing new drug and theft-related charges.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies were dispatched at 7:52 PM on Monday, July 21st, to a report of an unconscious man. Upon the arrival of first responders, the man, identified as 29-year-old James Rye, Sr. of Plant City, regained consciousness and became fidgety.

Rye told deputies the last thing he remembered was pulling over on the side of the road before suddenly waking up in an unfamiliar yard. EMS personnel checked him and determined he was medically cleared…
