Tampa Traffic Stop Uncovers Major Cocaine Haul, Leads To Arrest Of 15-Time Convicted Felon

A routine traffic stop for a broken tag light and illegal window tint results in a significant drug seizure and new felony charges for a man with a lengthy criminal history.

TAMPA, Fla. – A routine traffic stop on Wednesday night led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man with more than 75 prior charges after deputies discovered nearly three pounds of cocaine.

The incident began just after 10:30 p.m. on August 6, 2025, when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of North Nebraska Avenue and Skipper Road for a broken tag light and illegal window tint. Instead of pulling over, the vehicle continued before eventually stopping at an apartment complex on Skipper Road.

As the car came to a halt, passenger Antwan Wesley, 45, exited the vehicle while holding a plastic package. According to deputies, Wesley ignored commands to stay inside, physically resisted, and threw the package toward the rear of the car. Inside the package—and another found nearby—were two bricks of cocaine weighing a combined 2.9 pounds, or approximately 1321.9 grams…
