Health Officials to Attend Final Giveaway of the Season to Address Recent Locally-Acquired Dengue Case

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County is taking proactive measures to combat the recent emergence of a locally-acquired dengue case, with health officials joining the final mosquitofish giveaway of the summer this Saturday, August 23.

The event, hosted by Hillsborough County Mosquito Management and the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), will provide residents with a natural and effective way to manage mosquito populations on their properties.

The giveaway, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Northdale Park & Recreation Center, marks the culmination of a season-long effort to equip residents with mosquitofish. These small, native freshwater fish are a powerful tool in the fight against mosquito-borne illnesses, as they feast on mosquito larvae, preventing them from maturing into biting adults…
