Residents in Tampa’s Avila neighborhood shocked by FBI raid connected to alleged forced labor operation

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Federal agents and a SWAT team raided a home in one of Tampa’s wealthiest and most exclusive neighborhoods early Wednesday morning.

Neighbors said the raid began around 4:30 a.m. when FBI agents and others raided a home in the Avila neighborhood. The U.S. Department of Justice said it was part of a multi-state operation against human trafficking and forced labor.

The DOJ says David Taylor, 53, and Michelle Brannon, 56, were arrested Wednesday in North Carolina and Florida in a nationwide takedown of their forced labor organization.
