LONDON, KY – Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s shift Sgt. Travis Napier arrested Ameer Faraj Salti age 32 of Tampa, Florida on Thursday morning September 4, 2025 at approximately 9:19 AM.
The arrest occurred off I–75 at exit 11 in Williamsburg following a traffic pursuit that occurred after Sheriff’s Sgt. Napier along with London City Police observed the vehicle traveling southbound on I–75 just south of exit 41 in London. Deputies and officers had been given an attempt to locate (ATL) on a black Transit Connect Van that had earlier fled from deputies in Madison County. Reportedly, the vehicle was a stolen vehicle out of Ohio. When Sgt. Napier and London City Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, it failed to stop traveling at speeds in excess of 82 mph. In southern Laurel County near exit 29 spike strips were deployed by Lieut. Brett Reeves and were successful in the deflating some of the tires on the vehicle, however the vehicle continued to flee from law enforcement. Then, an attempt was made to conduct a rolling roadblock on the suspect vehicle in an attempt to slow him down to a stop, however the suspect then rammed Sgt. Napier’s patrol vehicle in the rear multiple times. As the vehicle neared exit 15 at Williamsburg, spike strips were again deployed and were successful, however the vehicle continued southbound on I–75 driving on the rim of his vehicle striking the cable barriers in the median numerous times before swerving into the side of Sgt. Napier’s patrol vehicle intentionally again. At Williamsburg’s exit 11, the vehicle traveled off the southbound ramp going airborne in front of traffic on KY 92, and traveled near the on ramp for I–75 southbound into a grassy area before coming to a stop. The driver refused to exit the vehicle after multiple commands from law enforcement and had to be assisted in exiting the vehicle where he briefly struggled with officers before being taken into custody. Ameer Faraj Salti was charged with receiving stolen property $10,000 or more; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle; four counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim; resisting arrest; and other traffic violations…
