Pasco plans new high school for fast-growing Wesley Chapel

The Pasco County school district is dealing with two realities when it comes to student enrollment: It’s both growing and shrinking at the same time.

On the west side, the district is shuttering and combining schools as student numbers decline faster than expected. But on the east side, kids are overflowing their campuses, particularly the high schools.

Wiregrass Ranch High surpassed 140% capacity this fall, with Wesley Chapel High not far behind. Projections show the possibility of more than 4,000 additional students moving into the area with future developments…
