6-year-old girl is sole survivor of triple fatality crash in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A 6-year-old girl was the only survivor after an SUV lost control on I-4 Sunday evening and traveled off the highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver, a 60-year-old man, and two passengers, an 83-year-old woman and 60-year-old woman, were all killed in the crash, according to officials. All three were from Tampa.

Troopers said the driver lost control of the SUV while traveling eastbound on I-4 in Polk County. The car then traveled onto the south shoulder of the highway and struck a tree.
