On October 22, 2025, Tampa city officials, the Related Urban Group, and the Tampa Housing Authority began construction on the Residences at East End. This affordable housing project is located in East Tampa. It is part of Mayor Jane Castor’s efforts to address the city’s housing shortage and rising rents.
The Residences at East End will have 174 two-bedroom, two-bathroom units. These units are for families earning between 22% and 80% of the area median income, or about $32,000 to $83,000 a year for a family of four. Forty-three units will use Section 8 Project-Based Vouchers from the Tampa Housing Authority. The other 131 units will have rents based on the residents’ income levels.
The project is a public-private partnership. The City of Tampa bought the land and is working with Related Urban Group. Funding includes $9 million from Florida’s State Apartment Incentive Loan program and a $75,000 local match from the city. Planned amenities include a dog park, picnic areas, a fitness center, and a pocket park…
