Man throws cigarette packs with narcotics out of truck window to avoid detection

A Tampa man was arrested on drug charges after throwing cigarette packs with narcotics out of his window to avoid detection.

An officer spotted 49-year-old Eugene Dewayne Davis driving a tan Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Picciola Road around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. The female passenger in the front seat was not wearing a seatbelt, and the truck’s white bed lamp was on.

The officer pulled into the road to stop the vehicle, but it made a sudden turn onto Wood Duck Lane to quickly pull into a driveway. He still turned on his emergency lights and subsequently approached the vehicle. Davis advised that he did not have his license with him and instead handed over one that expired on Dec. 21, 2024. He had not gotten a new one, the report said.

The passenger also stated she did not have her ID on her but gave it a few moments later. Davis was unable to provide registration or insurance for the vehicle, saying it belonged to his boss. They were both asked to step out of the vehicle at that point, the report said…
