TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was arrested Thursday after Tampa police said he tried to force his way into someone’s car and then set the vehicle on fire.
The incident happened early Thursday morning near the intersection of North Ashley Drive and Polk Street in downtown Tampa, according to the police department.

Dispatchers first received a call at 8:17 a.m. from someone reporting that a man was actively trying to force his way into a black car, police said. Minutes later, another caller informed authorities that the same car was now on fire.
Officers arrived to find a black BMW in flames. Police said one of the car’s rear windows had also been smashed. Firefighters from Tampa Fire Rescue arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze.
