Nearly 250,000 households in Tampa Bay area to lose SNAP benefits due to shutdown

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Thousands of people in people in the Tampa Bay area will go without SNAP benefits this weekend because of the government shutdown.

Non-profits and organizations are expecting to see an increase in need come Saturday, but leaders said they’re ready to step in.
