Large fire breaks out at Tampa recycling facility

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A large blaze tore through a recycling facility in Tampa Monday evening.

Tampa Fire Rescue received a call just before 6:45 p.m. regarding a fire at the Blue Monkey Recycling Facility, located off of North 43rd Street.

Semi-truck crash wrecks Lakeland neighborhood, knocks out power

Nearly a dozen crews arrived on scene and found the facility engulfed in flames. Firefighters said it was mostly trash and large pieces of machinery like bulldozers.

No one was at the site when the fire started, and no injuries were reported, according to officials.

Crews brought the blaze under control hours after their arrival and remained on scene into the night as they worked to reach deep seated areas of remaining fire…
