LIST: Cold weather shelters open across Tampa Bay as frigid temps expected

TAMPA, Fla. — As cold temperatures are expected to sweep the Sunshine State on Tuesday, several counties across Tampa Bay are opening cold weather shelters to provide a warm space for those experiencing homelessness or people without adequate heat who have nowhere else to turn.

Here’s a list of cold weather shelters across all counties in the area:

Citrus County shelters

The county’s sheriff’s office posted on Facebook that its cold shelter will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday at 5113 S. Suncoast Blvd in Homosassa. It will include hot meals, sleep areas, showers and snacks.

Free transportation is available through Citrus County Transit.

Polk County shelters

Talbot House Ministries of Lakeland staff said they will be operating beyond their normal capacity for people who need a warm place to go. Starting Monday, individuals can stay around the clock at 814 N Kentucky Avenue.
