‘My whole family is hurting’: Sister remembers brother killed in Ybor City crash

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A growing memorial in Ybor City marks the site where four people were killed and at least a dozen others were injured over the weekend.

Police said 22-year-old Silas Sampson fled officers and sped through the entertainment district, crashing onto a sidewalk and into a crowd.

Among the victims was Sherman Jones, who loved ones described as a protector and a real-life superhero to those around him.

“Yes, I am hurting, I am, I am. My whole family is hurting. Some are angry, and some are sad. It’s mixed emotions,” said Jones’ sister Karen Simmons.
