Warming Shelters Open in Hillsborough County as Arctic Blast Hits Florida

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — With an arctic blast bringing freezing temperatures to much of the eastern U.S., officials in one Florida county are opening warming shelters to help residents stay safe from the cold.

At least six shelters across Hillsborough County will open on Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11, to provide warmth and shelter during the cold snap.

Felicia Crosby-Rucker, director of Homeless and Community Services for the county, said officials are seeking additional community and faith-based partners to expand shelter options.
