Florida’s first Piccolo Buco opens in Carrollwood

I’ve been driving past Piccolo Buco by Cooper’s Hawk for months now, watching it rise on the remains of a Macaroni Grill, and I finally got the chance to stop in this week.

The big picture: The restaurant opened in late October as a collaboration between the team behind Cooper’s Hawk and the creator of the original Piccolo Buco in Rome.

  • It is one of three locations in the U.S. and the first to open in Florida.

State of plate: It aims for an upscale feel, but it has a suburban looseness. It’s in Carrollwood, after all, and though you may succumb to the temptation to dress up as I did, you’ll find that most tables keep it casual……
