Tampa police address shooter misinformation in DJ ShyGuy’s death

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Police Department took to social media on Monday to address misinformation regarding the shooter accused in the death of a local DJ.

Responding to a rumor that the shooter might have been affiliated with TPD in some way, the department said the person was not an off-duty or on-duty officer, was not a retired officer, and was not an officer with any other local enforcement agencies.

Some community members were confused about why the name of the shooter hadn’t been released, but TPD said it was to protect the integrity of the active investigation. They did not say whether any arrests had been made or if they anticipate charges being filed.

On Friday, Nov. 14, TPD responded to a shooting that occurred at around 7 p.m. near E 5th Avenue and N 22nd Street, down the street from Columbia Restaurant. Few details were released about the circumstances around the shooting, but police referred to it as a “roadway dispute.”…
