Tampa nonprofit launches free grocery shopping experience for families

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The local nonprofit, The Tampa Bay Fashion Foundation, is helping more than 250 families put food on the table this Thanksgiving with a unique shopping experience.

Created in 2023, The Tampa Bay Fashion Foundation, is the nonprofit organization under the umbrella of the Tampa Bay Fashion Experience. Founder/CEO Taneka Bowles, created the nonprofit to empower individuals and families through various community initiatives. In two years, TBFF has helped more than 30,000 individuals and donated more than $250,000 to organizations across Tampa Bay.

TBFF is now getting ready to open their S.O.U.L Food Market. It’s a free grocery shopping experience for the more than 250 families inside the Silver Oaks Community. Silver Oaks is a government subsidized housing community the organization has devoted their giveback efforts to since hurricanes Helene and Milton.

“We went in and just did a meal giveback for them but something shook my spirit in that space and I just knew we needed to get in there and see what the real needs  besides just the immediate ones were,” Bowles said…
