Teen jailed after going nearly 90 mph over posted speed limit in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A 19-year-old was arrested in Tampa early Sunday morning after the Florida Highway Patrol said he was clocked going nearly 90 mph over the speed limit.

Cirilo Rayo-Callejas was driving eastbound on I-4 just before 1:30 a.m. when he flew past a state trooper who was monitoring traffic.

In an arrest report provided by FHP, the trooper wrote that he saw the driver weaving through the wet roadway at high speeds without signaling. He first estimated the teen to be driving 95 mph.

When the trooper pulled into the road to stop Rayo-Callejas, he sped up rapidly, ultimately reaching 154 mph. The speed limit on that section of I-4 is 65 mph, meaning he was driving well over double the limit…
