FLORIDA — A Hillsborough County school bus aide was arrested Friday after being accused of striking a 9-year-old child, according to authorities.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at about 3:10 p.m. to Cypress Creek Elementary School after the child’s mother reported concerns that her son may have been hit on a school bus. Deputies said the child is nonverbal and autistic.
Following an investigation, authorities determined that on at least one occasion, 79-year-old James Savage struck the child on the top of his hand. Deputies also said Savage was observed removing his hat and using it to slap the child on the left side of his face…
