Gunshots cracked through the warm afternoon air at the Dade City Moonshine Festival, as J.V. Walters and Pasco County Deputy A.P. Crenshaw crept down the sandy hill, edging closer to where they believed an illicit moonshine still lay hidden beneath the cover of scrub and palmettos.
They had set out searching for the Overstreet operation, a still rumored to be tucked away and fiercely protected. The air hung heavy, the sun beating down, when suddenly the brush came alive. The Overstreets were waiting.
Smoke drifted low to the ground as shots cracked back and forth, echoing through the pines. The officers pressed forward, the Overstreets fighting to protect their secret still…
