Duke Energy warns customers about text scam

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— Duke Energy is warning customers of a scam that is targeting utility customers.

The text message targets customers, claiming that a scheduled power outage will affect them.

“This message did not come from Duke Energy. Customers should avoid clicking links or downloading attachments from businesses or individuals they do not know, and they should contact Duke Energy directly to discuss their account or visit company communications channels for the latest updates,” Duke Energy said.
