Neighbors in Lutz express concerns over distressed raccoon

LUTZ, Fla. (WFLA) — Neighbors in the Oak Grove neighborhood in Lutz are worried about a sickly raccoon that’s been roaming around their front yards for four days.

Thursday, multiple people shared with News Channel 8 that their biggest worry is that the critter may have rabies.

“I was more concerned about the animal, but I don’t think it’s fair to the animal or to the people who live in the community.” said Pat Carson, a resident in the area. “I mean, I thought that’s what animal control does. They’re here for the residents of the county to assist with whatever would be a deer, a raccoon, or any kind of animal.”

Residents said they’ve called the authorities multiple times, but no one seems to be coming to pick the distressed animal up…
