Tampa Police Arrest Suspect Emanuel Watson on Attempted Murder Charges After Monday Shooting

Following an afternoon shooting yesterday in Tampa that sent one man to the hospital with critical injuries, police have detained a suspect. The Tampa Police Department reported that the shooting took place near N. 27th St and E. 97th Ave. at around 4 p.m. yesterday, where they found a man in his late 30s with gunshot wounds to his upper body, as detailed in a statement on their official news release.

Officers provided critical care to the wounded man before he was transferred by Tampa Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. While searching the premise, a suspect in an orange hoodie, observed running from the scene, was soon apprehended by the police. Known to each other, Emanuel Watson, the accused shooter, and his victim were seemingly in a verbal dispute gone awry, according to police.

Watson, a 33-year-old black male with a birthdate of June 9th, 1992, was located in the 10000 block of N. 26th St, hiding in the backyard of a residence. He was taken into custody without further incident.
