East Sligh Avenue Showdown, Tampa Woman Busted After Late-Night Gunfire

A Tampa woman is facing a stack of felony charges after deputies say she fired several rounds at two people who were trying to leave a house on East Sligh Avenue in the early hours of Jan. 22. Both people got away without injury, the vehicle was not hit, and investigators later served a search warrant at the home and collected evidence they say is tied to the shooting.

What investigators say

Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Section were called out around 3:04 a.m. for reports of gunfire at the East Sligh Avenue residence. According to the agency, a verbal dispute between the suspect, identified as 30‑year‑old Nicole Dorsey, and two other people escalated, and as the pair tried to leave, Dorsey allegedly grabbed a firearm and opened fire. A search warrant at the home turned up a firearm, three spent shell casings and ammunition, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Dorsey was arrested and booked on a slate of felony counts.
