Prison Time In Tampa For Man Who Injured ICE Agent In Polk County During Escape Attempt

TAMPA, Fla. – A 22-year-old man will spend the next 18 months in federal prison after a violent struggle with immigration agents left one officer with a dislocated shoulder. U.S. District Judge Thomas Barber handed down the sentence to Denis Napoleon Corea-Miranda (Nicaraguan National) in a Tampa federal courtroom following his guilty plea in December.

The incident dates back to August 26, 2025, when agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) tracked Corea-Miranda down to execute a final order of removal from the country.
