Tampa detention facility employees and inmates charged with bribery and drug offenses

TAMPA, Florida — Four indictments have been unsealed, charging employees, inmates, and associates at the Citrus County Detention Facility with bribery and drug-related offenses, according to United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

The indictments charge Justin Harvey, a 50-year-old from Inverness, Florida, with acceptance of a bribe by a public official and introduction of contraband to a prison, carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. Dekarri Nixon, a 28-year-old from Jasper, Florida, faces charges of acceptance of a bribe by a public official, also with a potential 15-year sentence.

Courtney Smith, a 35-year-old from Brooksville, Florida, is charged with conspiracy to bribe a public official, acceptance of a bribe by a public official, and introduction of contraband into a prison, with a maximum penalty of 15 years.
