Hillsborough County student arrested for possessing weapon on school grounds

RUSKIN, Florida — A 17-year-old student was arrested after a weapon was found at Lennard High School, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 30, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a School Resource Deputy was alerted by a school administrator about an anonymous report of a student possessing a weapon on campus. The student was identified as Valentino Pileggi, 17. A search of Pileggi’s backpack revealed a kitchen knife with a black handle and a four-inch blade, as well as a pocket knife.

Pileggi stated he brought the knife to school due to an ongoing dispute with other students. No threats or injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Deputies also discovered a book in Pileggi’s backpack related to the Columbine High School perpetrators’ diaries, which he claimed to have due to his interest in true crime and criminal cases…
