TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers planning a late-night trek through the heart of Tampa this week will need to rethink their route. All westbound lanes of Interstate 4 are scheduled to shut down completely as they hit the Downtown Tampa Interchange starting just after midnight on Wednesday, April 1.
The closure is set to begin at 12:01 a.m. and should wrap up by 5 a.m., provided the weather stays clear. During this five-hour window, crews will be hoisted above the asphalt to install massive overhead sign structures.
