HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County detectives have opened an investigation following the death of a 34-year-old inmate who was discovered unresponsive inside the Falkenburg Road Jail last week.
Nathan Holmberg was found by jail staff on March 30, 2026, prompting an emergency transport to Tampa General Hospital. After four days in medical care, Holmberg was pronounced dead at 10:14 p.m. on April 3, 2026.
While the Medical Examiner’s Office is still working to determine the official cause of death, preliminary reports from the Sheriff’s Office suggest the incident was a suicide. Holmberg’s next of kin have been notified of his passing as the investigation into the jailhouse death continues…
