Man accused of attacking 82-year-old Tampa woman given $100K bond

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man accused of violently attacking and robbing an 82-year-old woman outside a Tampa Publix now faces a $100,000 bond after waiving his first court appearance on Wednesday.

According to Tampa police, 56-year-old Joseph Wren is accused of attacking the woman Friday night near Hillsborough and Habana avenues before stealing her bag. Investigators say the victim was pulled to the ground during the assault and knocked unconscious.

Wren did not appear before the judge Wednesday after waiving his first appearance. During the hearing, prosecutors outlined what they described as a lengthy criminal history that includes prior prison sentences for robbery, burglary and grand theft auto offenses…
