On Sunday, Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, and the Phoenix Mercury secured their seventh win of the season after defeating the Seattle Storm by a final score of 87-78. The Mercury moved to .500 on the season with a 7-7 record, while the Storm fell to 9-5.
Griner was spectacular in the game, guiding her team to the victory. The former Baylor Bears star recorded a season-high 28 points on 10 of 15 shooting, nine rebounds, and two blocks. Taurasi added 13 points and eight rebounds.
During Griner’s postgame press conference, a reporter noticed her interesting choice of drink. It’s not every day you see a basketball player drinking a beer in the arena unless, of course, they’re celebrating something. In this case, Griner was celebrating Father’s Day.
