Arizona PBS receives $10 million for new broadcast tower on ASU campus

Arizona State University has announced that its PBS-affiliated station received a $10 million gift from Sue Hart-Wadley and Searle Wadley. The largest gift in Arizona PBS history will support construction of a broadcast tower, fund a national science-focused series, and expand educational outreach efforts across the state. The current broadcast tower on South Mountain in Phoenix, including its feed line connecting the tower to the transmitter, is in critical condition. The new tower will have a 30-foot triangular base and stand 297-feet high, topped with a 50-foot antenna. The tower, targeted to be fully operational in 2026, is in early planning stages with local permitting still pending.
