Interstates 17 and 40 in northern Arizona were closed Friday due to multiple vehicle slide-offs and unsafe conditions caused by a winter storm. I-17 was later reopened.
The closures come as blustery winter weather was expected to dump several inches of snow and rain across the region , according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
ADOT announced Friday evening that these roads will remain closed, with no estimated time of reopening:
- I-40 eastbound at U.S. 93 (milepost 71).
- I-40 westbound in Winslow (milepost 252).
- State Route 89 near Ash Fork (milepost 146).
- State Route 87 south of Payson (milepost 238).
